Biography - Omar Ismael Castellanos Suarez is a self-taught artist who lives in Cienfuegos, Cuba. While he was professionally trained as a veterinarian (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Universidad Central de las Villas in 1991) Omar has painted since he was in primary school. He joined the Cienfuegos artists' group, the Movimiento de Artistas Aficianados. Exhibitions - Since 1999 Omar has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Cienfuegos and in other regional shows in Trinidad, Santa Clara and Holguin, Cuba. His work was included in the "Art of Cienfuegos " show at the Center for Cuban Studies in new York in 2000. His first solo show in Cuba was in 2002.
