Theard Aladin

Theard Aladin was born in Jacmel in 1925. He worked as a stonemason for much of his life. Though cousin to the prominent Haitian painters Prefete Duffaut and Pauleus Vital, he didn't paint his first painting until 1984. He lived and painted in the Carrefour neighborhood of Port-au-Prince until his death in 1993. Though he never attained much fame outside of a small core of devoted collectors, he was and remains one of our favorite Haitian painters.
